Sliding Stars

It was a really great time out yesterday; we went down to LA for the first time in months and swung by Buffalo Exchange on the way over. We went to Downtown Disney as well (it's kind of obligatory) where we nommed on beignets and fought through crowds of high school kids on group trips. Nothing against it, it looks like a cool trip, but I can't help but feel frustrated getting through a flock of kids in matching shirts standing near the restrooms.
Day three of the song challenge: a song that makes you happy!

Lovelovelove Marina and the Diamonds! My room mate introduced her to me, and I've been hooked ever since. The song's great, but I honestly think my favorite part is the music video. :3

Word for Word

Dress: Kimchi (Buffalo Exchange)
Belt: F21

Dress+belt...that's pretty much my summer uniform. Trying to get around to wearing shorts and tees more often, but I've gotten used to being kinda fancy all the time. Nothing wrong with either, of course. XD

So, day two of the music challenge is "your least favorite song". It took a while (because there are few songs I really dislike), but I finally found the one:

For some reason, this song ALWAYS turn up on my professor's Pandora playlists, and it drives me nuts. I must have heard this song 6 times in Graphic Design class alone. :|

Cruel Summer

Dress: Modcloth
Cardigan: Target
Belt: F21

It's sooooo much colder here than in Florida! The days are overcast, there's mist and rain and clouds...it's kind of a bummer. In any case, at least I get to break out my sweaters and tights again.

In any case, I'm really happy to have more time to work on personal art and that kind of thing...even though, ironically, all I feel like doing is watching cable. I'm getting things done, but a lot slower than I thought I would.

Anyway I saw this challenge posted on Kelinda's blog (from Mind Sticker), and it sounded like loads of fun! It's a 30 Day Music Challenge, starting with your favorite song:

When I was a kid, ALL I listened to was KISS. They're still my favorite band, and they were my first concert as well! I used to really like the intro to this song in particular (it's kind of rare to hear it; usually they use it as an intro to "She"). :D

Slacker!

Wow...it's been a month since my last post. o.o
Things were just as busy as I thought they'd be wrapping up the end of the year, and even though I've been home for about two weeks I just haven't gotten around to posting. Ah, well, I'm posting now (finally).

We went out to Solvang a few days ago and had a great time out; Solvang's this little town with a heavy Dutch/German feel. Lots of cute houses, German-style bakeries and great boutiques. We had ebelskivers (tiny German doughnuts covered in jam and powdered sugar) and coffee and had a look around, so it was a great afternoon. :D

I also started up a seperate blog for art!

Almost There

Sooo...been doing a lot of packing recently for my move back home over the summer break. Sometimes I just wish I could stay here until the next semester starts up again instead of looking into storage units and flights back to CA. I miss my family loads, but still, I'm completely worn down from everything that's happened recently and wish there was an honest-to-goodness break.
Since my outfits lately have been essentially tees with shorts (it stops the bf complaining about wearing "granny dresses and cardigans" anyhow XD), here's some sketchy stuff I've been working on.

These are some watercolor 3-minute gestures we did in class (the model was awesome):

Marchin' On

(this is one of my favorite necklaces ever....my friends never get the reference at first)
Tank, Sweater: Target
Skirt: Modcloth
Necklace: Disney Couture

Aaaaaand the flu is gone! Just in time for the teachers to start bugging us with final projects and essays (at least I'm ready :P). Yesterday was Free Cone Day at Ben and Jerry's, so a gaggle of my friends and I partook of the free-ness. It's so weird to go someplace without your wallet, but it was pretty cool too. I got Half-Baked, which I'd never had before (shocking, right??), then we walked over to the beach. A few of us jumped in, but I'm a wimp and I hate having wet clothes. And the skirt was new. XD

Speaking of the skirt...it's going to be a new favorite. I'm in the process of weeding out a lot of my black clothing (soooo much), and I realized I have no colored skirts whatsoever. So, this seemed pretty cheerful, and I really like the buttons (and pockets!). I'm thinking it's comfy enough to wear on the plane ride home to CA next month, too....do you guys do that? Plan out traveling outfits? I have three flights to get there, but I'm not seeing my family for the first time in months wearing a t-shirt and jeans. XD

Dream on Repeat

Dress: F21
Belt: Target
Shoes: Poetic License

Sooo....this last week has been pretty strange. I've been hit up with just about every kind of flu and cold symptom (included the dreaded sore throat) and have spent most of my "spare time" (I did have to miss a class or two) laying around watching Twilight Zone. It felt like I was in some sort of time bubble, and now it doesn't feel like Friday at all. o.o
In any case, I'm doing a lot better. I have lingering traces of a sore throat, but I'm hoping to have that knocked out with lemon tea and cough drops.
(Anyone have any at-home remedies...? I read somewhere that a dill pickle worked?)

Completely off-topic: I love these shoes! I never really considered myself a "shoe" person until I saw some Poetic License pairs. They're so OTT and lovely that they just called to me...this pair is more tame, definitely, but I can't wait to wear them out more when I have my sea-legs back.

Ohhh, this project was due way-back, but I'm pretty happy with it and thought I should post some more recent art:
It's the mock-concert poster for my Graphic Design class (I picked Rasputina). No grades back yet, but I have my fingers crossed!
