Almost There

Sooo...been doing a lot of packing recently for my move back home over the summer break. Sometimes I just wish I could stay here until the next semester starts up again instead of looking into storage units and flights back to CA. I miss my family loads, but still, I'm completely worn down from everything that's happened recently and wish there was an honest-to-goodness break.
Since my outfits lately have been essentially tees with shorts (it stops the bf complaining about wearing "granny dresses and cardigans" anyhow XD), here's some sketchy stuff I've been working on.

These are some watercolor 3-minute gestures we did in class (the model was awesome):

Marchin' On

(this is one of my favorite necklaces ever....my friends never get the reference at first)
Tank, Sweater: Target
Skirt: Modcloth
Necklace: Disney Couture

Aaaaaand the flu is gone! Just in time for the teachers to start bugging us with final projects and essays (at least I'm ready :P). Yesterday was Free Cone Day at Ben and Jerry's, so a gaggle of my friends and I partook of the free-ness. It's so weird to go someplace without your wallet, but it was pretty cool too. I got Half-Baked, which I'd never had before (shocking, right??), then we walked over to the beach. A few of us jumped in, but I'm a wimp and I hate having wet clothes. And the skirt was new. XD

Speaking of the skirt...it's going to be a new favorite. I'm in the process of weeding out a lot of my black clothing (soooo much), and I realized I have no colored skirts whatsoever. So, this seemed pretty cheerful, and I really like the buttons (and pockets!). I'm thinking it's comfy enough to wear on the plane ride home to CA next month, too....do you guys do that? Plan out traveling outfits? I have three flights to get there, but I'm not seeing my family for the first time in months wearing a t-shirt and jeans. XD

Dream on Repeat

Dress: F21
Belt: Target
Shoes: Poetic License

Sooo....this last week has been pretty strange. I've been hit up with just about every kind of flu and cold symptom (included the dreaded sore throat) and have spent most of my "spare time" (I did have to miss a class or two) laying around watching Twilight Zone. It felt like I was in some sort of time bubble, and now it doesn't feel like Friday at all. o.o
In any case, I'm doing a lot better. I have lingering traces of a sore throat, but I'm hoping to have that knocked out with lemon tea and cough drops.
(Anyone have any at-home remedies...? I read somewhere that a dill pickle worked?)

Completely off-topic: I love these shoes! I never really considered myself a "shoe" person until I saw some Poetic License pairs. They're so OTT and lovely that they just called to me...this pair is more tame, definitely, but I can't wait to wear them out more when I have my sea-legs back.

Ohhh, this project was due way-back, but I'm pretty happy with it and thought I should post some more recent art:
It's the mock-concert poster for my Graphic Design class (I picked Rasputina). No grades back yet, but I have my fingers crossed!

That Velvet Sun

I hate that thing my jaw does....it swerves to the side when I take pics. :P

Romper: Buffalo Exchange
Sweater, belt, shorts: Target
Shoes: Faith

So, not sure if it's too noticable, but I redesigned the blog a little! I'm a lot happier with it now. :D

We're in the middle of a tornado warning in my county, so I'm holed up in my dorm right now waiting for the wind and rain to let up. We had a hurricane warning at the beginning of the semester and it blew over pretty quick (no pun intended), so I'm not too worried. Right now, I'm just mad that the storm is making the internet run slow....
We just had a big test in my art history class last night, so my roomie and I plan on chilling out tonight and watching Tangled. I loooove that movie; saw it in theaters twice (but I think I saw Up three of four times) and bought it yesterday. I really want to dress up as Rapunzel for Halloween sometime. :3

Holy Smokes

Yep, still here. I can't believe I thought things would be dying down around this time last week. :o

On the upside, got an "A" on my last illustration (for reasons completely unknown to me...), which is pretty cool for me because last year the same teacher gave me a B as my highest grade. It just feels like a pretty measurable amount of success to me, so I'm basking while I can. :D

Bridesmaid business is driving me up the wall as well; my sister and I are the Best Man and Maid of Honor (respectively) in my older sister's wedding. It's actually sort of ironic, because all of us are generally pretty laid back until it really counts, in which case we go into panic mode. Anyhow, my olde sister's color scheme is...brown and green. Nothing against it, but finding cute, inexpensive-ish brown or green dresses is such a task in itself. But, based on the bride's love of vintage-styled dresses, I think I found the perfect one!

Pretty, right?? So, it just needs to go through...three levels of approval in the wedding heirarchy. But first, a nap.

I love....Colleen Atwood

Ha, all my outfits have been pretty lame lately. Haven't been feeling too fab, and there's really no point fancying-up for three hours of oil painting every other day, right? So, here's my first attempt at a "feature"...or at least a fill-in. :'D

You've probably guessed that I'm into art, and that I like clothes...so, combining these two interests into one fantastic celebrity is...Colleen Atwood!

She has such an amazing sense of design, and a taste for theatrics which I find completely inspiring. Whenever there's a movie featuring her beautiful designs, I can't keep myself away from the theater.
She's worked on everything from Memoirs of a Geisha to Sweeney Todd to Little Women, and I feel her designs lend such an air of uniqueness to a movie which few other costume designers can match.

Night Sky

Dress: Ryu via Midcloth
Sweater: F21
Socks: Betsey Johnson
Boots: Spotted Moth
Wowww...I really haven't made a post in a while. I promised myself that I'd post on Friday, but things just got crazy busy and I'm just getting around to it now. :P
I submitted some of my illustrations with decent grades to the "Best of" show...didn't get in , but I really wasn't expecting to. After walking through the submission room, there was no way my pitiful drawings would get put up alongside of the glorious art from the upperclassmen. Ah, well, figured I'd at least give it a shot, then try again next year.

This is one of the dresses I got from the Cabin Fever sale Modcloth had a few months ago. I'm enamored with Ryu dresses (so much lace!), so to see it at such a great price really made my day. It's really comfy as well...even if it is a bit too dark for a Florida summer. :/

Here's what I've been up to art-wise:

It's a sketch for a music poster we're working on in my Graphic Design class (Melora Creager from Rasputina). The actualy poster is in a different direction entirely now, but I kind of like this one and thought I'd post it anyhow.
Happy Monday!
