Dizzy Dance

Dress: Not a clue
Belt: Ruche
Bracelet: Disney Couture

So it's pretty warm over here, and layering really isn't much of an option lately (it's past 80 most days). This dress in particular is sort of droopy in certain areas, so much to the point where I was thinking about just giving it away. But, when I accidentally put it on the wrong way today....BAM. It turned into what I consider a fairly cute  (and respectable!) boatneck dress. It scoops in the back, but I think that looks alright as well...I'm happy about keeping it, since I think the lace top is kinda nice. :D

I got done with a lot of homework (painting, illustration, and graphic design D:), so I squeezed in a drawing I'd been promising my younger sister for a while. She's a secret historical clothing pro, so she sent me a bunch of ref. pics she wanted me to combine into a masquerade gown for one of her characters. I want to get back to it later, but wanted to actually draw something just for fun. :'D

Firework

Dress: Free People
Vest: Thrifted
Necklace: Street Vendor
Sweater: F21

Just a quick post, since class is in a few minutes! It's a workday, though, so nothing too horrible.
It's a magnificent day out, and I really couldn't ask for a more beautiful Friday afternoon. Hopefully it'll hold through the weekend!

Here's what I'm working on illustration:

Another work-in-progress, updated from last time. I added some watercolor and I'm cleaning it up and finishing it with digital elements. I sort of like how it's turning out, though, so I hope it keeps going that way!

One last thing: that dress I wanted from Modcloth but didn't end up buying (the Floral Designer dress)? It was marked down to $27!! Soooo very glad I waited, since I was able to pick up a Ryu dress I wanted for a while for the same price as well. It was almost like buy one free. :'D

Gravity, Don't Mean Too Much

Sweater, Shorts: Target
Blouse: H&M

Ha, more shorts! I'm trying to find ways of making them feel more girly...I feel sorta lazy when I just put on a pair of shorts and a tee (although that's generally what I wind up doing).
The weather's been really nice, so I've been wearing my shorts more often and my pants less so. Thankfully, all my dresses are meant for spring/summer anyhow, so I can finally wear them without sweaters on top! My friends all laugh at me for my constant cardigan-wearing ways. :'D

Next assignment in illustration is for potential consideration in a gallery in town; here's what I have so far:

Here's the rough sketch. We were told to think of something along the lines of a self-portrait, so I'm drawing myself as different people or in different themes within the multiple boxes. Lame, yes, but we only have a week so I'm just trying to get it done the best I can. Maybe watercolor. :/

And I Say To Myself

(I just really like these clock earrings...)

Sweater: F21
Top: Disney Couture
Shorts: Target
Earrings: Target

Haha, I do have "shorts days". We had figure drawing and I wanted to be able to sit right on the drawing horses, which is tough in a skirt/dress (one of my friends forgot and wore a skirt, and she was fidgeting the whole class).

Oh, and forgot to post this little gem:

Why, yes! It is a 6ft cardboard cutout of David Tennant with googly eyes and paper valentines taped all over him. I don't know whether to hug my room mate or destroy her. When I walked into my room on Monday, I literally screamed and fell backward. When I told my boyfriend, I got absolutely no sympathy and got laughed at a little more. XD
Right now, Tennant's in the corner with a very fetching curler-wig on...it'll be fun to dress him up.

Just one more pic, I promise! XD
This is as finished as I think the book cover's getting....it's due in a few hours, and I feel a little dead inside. The next project has a one-week deadline. Gughhhhhhh.
(thanks to b-squaredstock on DA for the stock textures!)

Suitcase of Fireflies

Dress: Lulu's
Belt: Ruche
Sweater: F21

Hope everyone had an amazing Valentine's! I don't think a lot of people "celebrate" it at my college...I hear a lot of "Happy Single's Awareness Day", which I think just kind of puts a damper on things. Well, whatever you call it, there's always a good deal of chocolate. :3

Oh, and I won the O.P.I. mini-giveaway over at 2 Eyes in the Mirror! It's a really great blog and the polish looks lovely as well! Can't wait to try it, so thanks again! :D

Here's more progress on 'The Scarlet Letter' cover for illustration class. I've never really gone this "painterly" before, so I guess I'm happy with how it's turning out. It needs a lot more work (and it's due Friday!), though, so I guess I just need to barrel through it. D:

Raise Our Voice to the Ceiling

Here's my WIPS from the book cover illustration project we're working on in class! I chose the Scarlet Letter...or rather, the professor chose it from my thumbnail sketches. I'm trying to make it a bit more painterly than I normally do, which is a bit tough...but, I think it'll turn out okay if I put the time in. :D
In the finished illustration there'll be a really elaborate letter 'A' in the background, with vines from the roses gettin' all twisty around it. So far, I've just been too lazy to draw it...but I'll get there, since it's due next Friday. XD

Dress: Modcloth
Sweater: F21
Bracelet: Disney Couture

Love love LOVE this dress! It's probably my favorite one right now....comfortable, pretty, and my friends all say it suits me to a fault. I wore it during the logo critique, and people could immediately see the connection between me and my rococo skeleton design. :D
Too bad all the charms are flipped around; it's a Peter Pan bracelet my little sister gave me for my birthday about a year ago. It's really cute, and the little pink skull has an awesome blue rhinestone eye. X3

Speakeasy

Shirt: Dockers
Belt: Modcloth
Skirt: H&M
Lapel Pin: Lackadaisy
Hat: Buffalo Exchange

I feel a bit like a Lackadaisy character with the hat and the jacket...which really isn't such a bad thing, right? And with the cold weather creeping back up...yeah, the extra layers definitely help a bit.
(Today, I woke up, checked the temperature to see what I could get away with wearing: 45 degrees. Not cool, Florida, not cool.)

Tomorrow our first big graphic design project is due, and here's what I have as my logo:

I guess it works for me? The professor seemed to like it ok, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a decent critique tomorrow. I'm having some issues keeping the image un-pixalated in my InDesign files, but I've been working it around and I think I have it to wear the printout will be good. My friend suggested I emboss the frame in gold on my business card, which would be completely rocking. Unlikely, but rocking. XD

Lost Cause

Wellll, not really, but almost. :'D

Before I started up this blog, I started another blog for my journal comic about dorm life...just silly little recordings of what I did that day or stuff I was thinking about. It went on "hiatus" for a while since I wasn't really in the mood to record what I was feeling (I guess it's evident from the tone of the comics what happened...I guess nothing too serious, but enough to make me seriously doubt myself).

So, today I did my first comic since December and thought I could share a link for anyone inclined to visit! :)

We've Got It Made

Romper: Buffalo Exchange
Sweater: F21
Belt, Tights: Target
Shoes: Faith

(sorry for the yellow-ish pics, trying a different camera!)

It's getting cold again! We had some great weather, and it's pretty much back to feeling like February again...bummer! I guess it was all for the best, though, since I wanted to wear this romper with these tights, and if it was typical Florida weather, I don't know how comfy that'd be. :/
As for the Mocloth dress on sale: didn't get it. Instead, I went for a dress I'd been wanting ever since I saw it on the "Be the Buyer" page. It looked even better than I thought (removable straps!), and was even less expensive than the sale dress, so I got it. Super-happy. :)

Has nothing to do with any of the projects I'm supposed to be working on...I guess I just missed watercolor and wanted to try it out again. (The background was me layering paper/origami paper textures)

Besides the book my sister and I are doing, my illustration class is actually doing book covers as the next project! Here are the ones I'm thinking about doing:

-The Great Gatsby
-Wuthering Heights
-The Scarlet Letter

I want to go with a classic because I think it'd be fun to give something iconic a twist in my kind of style...my favorite books aren't very well-known (mainly Gaiman and Pratchett), and I want my classmates to have an immediate connection. Or am I over-thinking this a bit....? XD

Burn it Back Down

Shirt: Junk Food
Pants: Target
Shoes: Mudd
Watch: Hot Topic

Simple outfit today. We were doing some painting during my figure class and I didn't want to get any of my nice clothes messy. I picked up the pants on sale at Target, and I think it's one of two pairs I have with me in my dorm at the moment. I must own the most dresses and skirts on campus. XD

(click for a bigger image!)

I've been thinking a lot about the book my sister and I are going to put together, and here are some sketches for it! Dust, Ulysess (he's from the sequel! I'm so late in illustrating it that she's actually started writing the second book!), Peter, Wendy and Wendy.
There's a comic as well as a book, so that's why the styles are a bit different from sketch to sketch. I'm thinking the one on the far right could be a cover, with a bit more work. XD

Here's some songs I've been enjoying lately; especially the first! A reader suggested it, and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. :D

Whistle for the Choir

Sweater: Target
Vest: Thrifted
Belt: Modcloth
Skirt: H&M
Watch: Hot Topic
Nail Polish: Katy Perry for OPI (I haven't painted my nails in years!)

It's been a while between posts because I've been busy kicking my butt on commissions and school work...we more or less had a project due today, or so we thought. I went into class expecting to turn in the massive 16x20 inch watercolor I've been dying over, only to find the professor decided to give us an extra week for tweaks.

I honestly don't think I can stand to look at it for a whole other week, but at least we have the prompt for our next project! It's book covers! I'm so very very excited for it! :D
I was thinking The Scarlet Letter, Wuthering Heights, or The Great Gatsby; I'm not a big fan of any, but I think the stories lend themselves to some really fun and interesting covers.

Speaking of books, my sister and I are putting together a book...she writes beautifully, and I draw cheaply, so we're good together. XD
She wrote the most amazing story called Wendybird, which is her take on Peter Pan. We're planning on going through Lulu, and I'm working on the pdfs as well (yayyy Graphic Design class XD). Wish us luck. :o
