Let's Dance

Sweater: Harajuku Lovers (from Buffalo Exchange)
Skirt: H&M
Belt, Socks: Target

Ahh...we painted outside again today. I can't say I really enjoyed it, but at least I was a smidgen warmer than the last time.

I'm working a lot on commissions this weekend (and, uh, yeah, homework), so drew this quick to blow off a little steam and have some fun doodling:
Had my eye on this Modcloth dress for a while, ever since I saw Lulu Letty wear it on her blog. And then...dang, it went on sale. So now, I'm working away trying to muster up enough art cash to get it before the sale goes away. I'm thinking I'm going to have my work cut out for me. XD

Happiest of Fridays to you!~ <3

Propane and Butterscotch

Dress: Rock Steady
Shirt: Primark
Belt: F21
Tights: Target

Remember when I said I'd be a better student...? Yeah. Well, my first illustration is due Friday, and I'm way behind on it. I've worked on it a bit today, but it has a ways to go before I'd be comfortable putting it up for critique. Some of my fellow classmates can be brutal. :D
I think I've only worn this dress twice; once to a Rasputina concert over the summer and another when I went out with friends. My two biggest issues with it were the low-cut in front and the super-high waist, but the shirt and belt sort of fix both problems, and I think I'll be wearing it more.

Last night there was an insane thunderstorm (and a tornado warning), so I stayed inside and worked on a quick picture I'd wanted to do for a day or so:
(I really like feathers, curly red hair and freckles...nothing more to it, really.)

Where I'll Be Tomorrow

Dress: Modcloth
Sweater: F21
Tights: Target
Heels: Thrifted

So, sorry the pictures are derp-y...some were with one camera, and others were with a different one, and it wet sort of kaplooey. :/

I had a great birthday! Lots of kind words from family and friends, and here on the blog. 20 doesn't seem nearly so horrifying now that it's here. I feel like there's a lot that I need to do though...I have this strange feeling that I'm falling behind. Most of my friends have hit 20 before me, and I just think they've done a lot more with themselves than I have. I guess that's motivation in itself, anyhow, right? XD

Oh, and here's a stupid comic I drew about my room mate and I:

...and this is exactly why I need to be a better student.

Bye!~

Cakewalk

It's my last day as a teenager, which is a little bit heartbreaking...but it's been a wonderful day, so I guess it'll be ok. :'D
We (my room mate and I) went downtown to the Southeast Guide Dog Center, where they have guide dogs in training come in and socialize. They say it's to get them used to other people and being in public, but really, it's just an excuse for me to cuddle some puppies. :D
When we got back, found out my family had sent me an early-ish birthday present:

...a chocolate gift basket! As you can see, it was well-recieved.
(Let's just ignore those Nutritional Facts on the back, shall we? :D)

My friend Franny (we're art buddies!) sent me this a few days ago for my birthday, too:

I love Princess and the Frog, so this ornament was amazing and wonderful, and just made my day. Sorry for the horrible blurry-ness, it really is a beautiful ornament!

And, my Modcloth dresses (from my last post) came in!

Here's one of them; I also bought the "Owl Be Home" dress, but I was gong to wear that one tomorrow. My room mate says it makes me look like a shepherdess, but I love it. I'm crazy about ruffles (and rococo...) and Victoriana, so I really don't mind.
These two were sort of my consolation to turning old (and a pat on the back for art?)...and I guess one for each decade? That makes sense...-ish.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just feeling pretty happy right now, and I'm kind of gushing. :D

Sentiment

So, I just got the first dress I've ever paid for completely with my art commissions.
I really wanted it, and as soon as I'd earned enough, BAM, in the shopping cart. :)

(I'll probably never wear it without a cardigan, though. I absolutely hate my arms/shoulders.)

Sweater: Forever 21
Dress: Lulu's

I actually have two more coming (Modcloth!) which were also bought with art-money, but this one's going to be pretty special to me.

Fall like a domino

Ended up Goodwilling on Sunday anyway; the afternoon was just dragging on a little too long and it needed to be broken up a bit. XD

Blouse: H&M
Belt: Ruche
Vest, Skirt: Thrifted

It was really, really crowded, which was a bit weird, but still got the great vest and skirt. I'm pretty sure my closet is bursting full of floral prints anyhow, but...I can't resist. :3

And here's what I wore today!

Dress: I can't remember for the life of me...
Shirt: Primark
Shoes: Spotted Moth
Necklace: Disney Couture
Hat: Buffalo Exchange
Jacket: Target

I need to buy some practical clothes soon, since we're landscape painting this semester...my tights got muddy from having to set up my easel this morning.
Speaking of school: my dorm. And yes, that's a 'Hot Fuzz' poster in the background! BEST movie ever.
In my opinion. :3

Find a Way

It's Sunday, and I'm feeling pretty lazy....haven't started on HW (though I know I should), and really haven't left the room. I was going to walk a few blocks down to Goodwill, but went at 9, and found out they weren't open until 10. I'm pushing that until tomorrow, since they're having a sale then anyhow. :D

Jumper: Target
Shirt: Primark
Belt: Modcloth
Tights: Modcloth

It's one of my favorite dresses/jumpers, but I haven't worn it on it's own yet, since I don't think it's quite warm enough outside. I can't wait to break out the summer dresses....now that Christmas is over, I'm not such a big fan of winter. :(

Also did some doodling this morning (I guess that counts as productive...?):

"Layla" came up on my Pandora playlist last night, and since then I haven't stopped listening to it. Amazzzzzing song, even though I wish they'd just chop off the last 5 minutes of it. :/

Jean Genie

So, here is my indescribably beautiful Betsey Johnson denim jacket...it's quite possibly the bestest thing I own. Besides my drawing tablet.

Best part? $15.
I kid thee not. It has a tear on the left side of the chest, but in all honesty, I don't care if it was missing an entire sleeve.

(it has safety pins all up and down the sleeves; probably the only reason I didn't wear it through airport security last week.)

Jacket: Betsey Johnson New York
Dress: Mustard Seed

I'm soooo excited for the long weekend, guys! My college doesn't observe a lot of holidays (not even Veteran's Day!!), so I was pleasantly surprised when my professors reminded us not to come to class on Monday. :D

I don't really have any new drawings today....most of the morning was spent painting (and those are horrible; they will never be seen by the light of day).

Here's some old stuff, though, if you want a look:

Sorry for the long post! D:

Free Day

Wednesdays are practically my day off...only one class, but not until 7 pm. It runs for about 3 hours, which is sort of cray, but at least it's not a studio class. D:

Decided to be a good sister and draw my younger sister a picture for the story she's been working on, Anachronism Cafe. At first I was bummed out because I'm used to her writing fantasy stories (my absolute favorite was her Peter Pan revamp...we're working on it as a comic), and this was a scifi. Buuuut...she's awesome, and ended up writing an awesome scifi story. Of course.

The main character's Glory, and her sister is Honor. Only when I was coloring Glory in did my roomie swagger over and point out she bared a resemblance to me...I'll have to ask my sister who the grumpy, irritable, red-headed college student is based on. XD

Dress: Free People (sale :D)
Sweater: Mosimmo
Necklace: Target

Purple's my favorite color, but it seems like all my winter clothes are black. I'm trying to work more color into my closet, so I'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the input yesterday; I'll post my thumbnail ideas after I work on them tonight in my lecture class. XD

Don't Get Caught

Got assigned our first Illustration assignment for the semester; it should be a fun one, but I'm having some trouble deciding...
We're supposed to take a master painting and put a twist on it. Sounds easy and fun...but there's a ton of paintings I want to try, and I'm not really sure where I should head. Here are some of my top picks:

Delacroix

Degas

Fragonard

Pretty well-known...and pretty expected, from what I've shown you of my art, right? XD
(At least the Rococo-era Fragonard...)

Oh look...some of my messy dorm in the background. D:
Anyhow, went with shorts today...I left all my pants at home. Bad idea!
Well, at least I didn't get overheated today.

Shirt: Dockers
Sweater: Target
Shorts: Mossimo
Boots: Spotted Moth

(Listening to the Zutons...could you tell? XD)
